Det var samma kära, förställda handstil på kuvertet, som han så väl kände till från de många gånger lästa och omlästa små biljetterna sedan början av sommaren. Vad kunde hon ha att säga honom? Låg det några nya sorger, låg det kanske någon olycka gömd och väntade på honom i detta lilla oskyldiga vita kuvert? Han bröt upp det och läste.
