Konsul Arvidson satt  sitt kontor i det privata mottagningsrummet och

Det knackade sakta  dörren, som för övrigt stod  glänt, konsuln
ropade "stig " utan att se upp, och Karl Hammer kom in.

-- Det är en herre som önskar tala med konsuln, sade han. Det här är
hans kort. Han säger, att det gäller en ytterst viktig angelägenhet.

Konsul Arvidson tog kortet, som Hammer räckte honom och läste med
