Det högg till inom henne. Främmande menniskor--hon, hans mor? Ja, det
var det som var felet.

»Är han mycket långsint», frågade hon.

»Nej, inte alls. Han tar allting en bagatelle. Ingenting gör intryck 
honom.--Vill ni inte att jag talar med honomVar det möjligt, att han kunde taga det som bagatell, detta som vållat
henne sjelf en  gränslös smärta. Hennes stolthet reste sig.

»Nej tack», sade hon afvisande. Han hade förstått henne  dåligt och
kränkt henne  djupt att hon tvingats att visa bort honom. För henne

företaga något som kunde se ut som ett närmande.
